We’re All about Choice in the Channel: Six-Core AMD Opteron™ processor with AMD Chipset
First of all, I’d like to thank the AMD Worldwide Channel team for inviting me to post about this week’s server news for the channel. I’m excited to tell you that AMD has introduced the new Six-Core AMD OpteronTM processor with AMD Chipset platform. At AMD, we strive to provide our industry partners the products that their customers request- the option to give their customers choice. This new chipset is yet another one of those products.
Today’s product launch is very important to those of you in the channel. Many of our key partners are expected to incorporate it into their offerings, for a variety of reasons. For starters, the new Six-Core AMD Opteron processor with AMD Chipset platform provides advanced energy efficiency while bringing important features to the market. At AMD we understand that everyone is concerned about power these days and want to provide the right products and tools to help your clients meet their power budgets. We also know that you can provide features like HyperTransportTM 3 technology and PCI Express 2.0 while keeping power consumption low.
There are two other things about this new chipset that I believe really speak to the channel. First of all, it provides a level of flexibility you won’t find with the competition. It provides customers the ability to customize their systems to meet both performance and power choices within the AMD family of products, while retaining the same essential features at all levels of the product line. The AMD Opteron processor family has always provided a wide variety of choices, and you get that same flexibility with AMD chipsets.
Secondly, this platform continues AMD’s commitment to easing customer transitions to new technology. The new AMD chipset gives you the ability to use multiple generations of AMD processors with the new AMD chipset. It provides customers with a portfolio of choices that allow them to meet their needs. I believe it gives customers the ability to build solutions to their problems; and it gives customers choices on how they go about solving their problems.
After all, that’s what we’re all about – choice.
