The Business of Paying Respect
Respect is a powerful sentiment that transcends business and pop culture. Look no further than “The Godfather” films as a terrific example of where respect defines business relationships and gives recognition to those who perform well. Today, AMD launched the AMD Opteron™ 6000 Series platform – or as you have come to know it– “Magny Cours.” I’m not going to go into the speeds and feeds of the new product other than to say that we believe this is, without a doubt, the right server platform for real-world workloads that are increasingly complex and demanding (if you want to read more on the specs, check out our @Work blog).
Instead, what I want to do is pay respect to our system builders as they continue to be instrumental in spreading our AMD Opteron™ technology. You were here for us when we launched the AMD Opteron processor in 2003 and with your continued excitement about our technology, we are confident the “Magny Cours” launch will be successful.
By providing highly customized, leading-edge solutions, you help us expand our reach to many new and exciting markets: world-class research institutions, enterprises, small or medium-sized businesses and even highly niche markets such as slot machines.
Looking ahead, AMD wants to ensure we remain at the top of our game so that we’re always bringing our channel partners the right technology and the right sales and marketing tools at the right time. We understand that we all must work together to adapt to changing economic environments, increased competition and technical evolution to boost our competitive value.
In order to hold up our end of the bargain, AMD has made some key changes over the last few months to ensure that we can efficiently help our channel partners bring to market the technology their customers rely on. You’ve all read on here about AMD’s Fusion Partner Program and what it will mean for our channel partners. Now, as we continue to help our channel partners provide a new level of value, performance and power efficiency, we’re simultaneously working to evolve our channel program.
So as our channel partners continue to design servers featuring AMD technology to help their customers handle complex jobs with excellent throughput, exceptional value and readiness to scale, we are committed to embracing the complexity of our channel ecosystem to help ensure that each channel partner has the needed tools to make the most of their relationship with AMD.
