Nice poll. I do upgrade roughly once a year. I’m so surprised that most people upgrade their graphics driver every month.

Really happy with the monthly driver updates… please keep them coming. I’m eagerly waiting for a driver update (9.7?) that will allow me to use Crossfire in ARMA2 (released late last month)… currently I get better performance (FPS) using just one of my 4890s.

Catalyst 9.6 have two serious issues here on Windows7 x64. One is the 2D/3D clock bug AGAIN on Radeon 4870X2, and the another one is: Why GPU scaling is disabled?

My brother just tried 2x 4350s in Crossfire and CCC would still lock up when he tried to enable Crossfire Mode.

He’s running a Core i7 920 (2.66 Ghz stock) on a Gigabyte X58 board (I forget the exact model name) with 6 GB DDR3 RAM and Windows 7 RC x64.

In short, the new drivers trashed my laptop (dv7-1245 by hp) as far as OpenGL went. I only use the laptop for Secondlife and its clean of all of the normal crap. I was running a slick 35 frames a second and now 7-10 frames is where I top up. Stupid me forget to record the version. but on the same note, i expected ATI to be OpenGL functional.

windows 7 drivers on ati web site but the x1800xl all in wonder has not tv drivers for the windows 7 next fixing this issue

hi major fix needed in xp cata 9.6 i have media centre xp amd 4800+ 1gb ram and 4870 1GB now th 4870 1 gb card have to have there memmry clock abck off to 900 Mhz otherwise u get get ocacaional (every 10 or 15 secs) screen flicker it did on every ver on 9 cata i had, i diiscovered on driver cd taht came with it there was a fix , but no in the cata 9.6 drivers. Upon further reading after 2 months scratching my head trying to figure out was wrong with the drivers i fixed it then , i found it on various forums . please ensure that this fix is included with next drivers as alot of people will be unaware of how to fix this issue inc ati tech at time

@Rando, nVidia has a program "nHance" where you can tweak the settings per game, a friend of mine has GTX295 and is running 140-240 FPS in rFactor and GTR2 so I am a bit dissapointed. I know that those games are old but if nVidia can make it work why can't Ati.

Very annoying issues with all the drivers for windows 7 64bit up to the 9.6 version with HDMI output to 1920×1080 TV. Why they lacking GPU scaling for the screen almost on all resolutions ? Especially 1920×1080. Its impossible to watch videos full screen on that resolutions.

@Ian McNaughton, Hello...well the main problem is that most of the drivers are not ok not even the driver from the instalation cd that comes with the HD 2400 PRO agp, i have meny erros.. directx 10 test do not run .. i can not play many games.. not even spectraball the driver resets it's self.. low quality graphics even at older games some like scarface

@Francisco, may I ask what your system specs are, specifically your power supply.

I’ve noticed a frame rate increase between 9.4 and the 9.5 9.6 drivers you’re having problems with… Im not sure if this is accurate, but I also seem to be logging higher temperatures. It may very well be that my room is simply warmer now, but if it has anything to do with the GPU working harder, it may explain your BSODs if you don’t have a solid PSU.

I have an ASUS tri-fan 4870×2 and 9.4 and 9.6 both worked great, 9.5 gave me stuttering.

i have 4870×2 too… but i cant understand how can be gtx 295 faster than 4870×2… ati 2GBgtx 1.7GB | ati 2.4teraflops ghp gtx 1.78 teraflops??? ati 2×750 gtx 2×576??? how it be real? gtx memory bandwidth 223.8GB/s and 4870×2 has 230GB/s????

Just bought the ASUS HD4870×2 with the hope of more FPS in rFactor and GTR2, I had the HD4870 before, but sadly NO!! will there be any support for those games?? I Know the GTX295 runs like a dream on those games. I have testet the card (HD4870×2) on COD4 and it works, between 100-240 FPS YEARH!

I’m also having problems with 9.6. there are times that my computer would restart when i would would have wanted it to shut down. I cannot also untick the “Use EDID”.

@Faye, can you elaborate more on your problem? I’m running dual monitors right now, one at 1920×1200 and the other at 1680×1050, no problems what so ever.

Additionally, I have a few friends running dual monitors as well and never a BSOD related to the video card/drivers.

I’m running a 4870×2 on vista 64, friends are running 4830 on XP, and another running an x700 on XP.

@patgarr, I had problems with my 4870×2 and 9.5, so i went back to 9.4. These 9.6 have worked excellent for me.

My only gripe with ATi (and it very well may effect my purchasing decisions with later customer builds) would be the “no signal” problem with some monitors on ATi cards using DVI, especially since ATi is pretending it doesn’t exist.

Hello ATI staff!
I’m having lots of probs with 9.6 I tried installing them on my old install over 9.4 (i have a sapphire 4870×2 & i’m on vista64 SP2), and it would install, but i would get BSOD’s after restart…. I mean, vista wouldn’t even load! And the problem just got worse since I couldn’t uninstall the drivers from safe mode. You guys should come up with a tool to help uninstall in safe mode, it would make our lifes easier. Ok so after this, I thought my Vista installation was borked, so I decided to do a fresh reinstall of everything, and install 9.6 since the beginning. Everything should be ok now right? I was wrong unfortunately. The same BSOD that wouldn’t even let me load up vista would show up, the same uninstalling frustrations would come up. So then I tried with 9.5, same problem. Now I’m back at 9.4.. which is ok. Supreme Commander works PERFECTLY, but recently I bought the Orange Box from steam, and it doesn’t work! Loads of “Display Drivers have stopped responding” show up, and the game in the end just hangs before loading… So I have to either exit through process killing, or wait until vista shuts the process itself…. PLEASE FIX YOUR DRIVERS ATI!!! But when they work… oh, the beauty of it!.

Sorry to say, but when I had an old Nvidia GForce 6800 ultra back in vista, i never had so many driver problems… they were older games of course, but still, i thought my first ATI card was going to be a smooth experience…
