ATI Catalyst™ 9.10 Driver – What’s New?
I would like to thank Ian McNaughton for doing such a FANTASTIC job at informing and building the following that he has on AMD at Play. Ian has handed the reins of the blog covering our ATI Catalyst software suite over to me as he is focusing on adding more diverse content to AMD at Play blogs. Ian will still be monitoring this blog and will be engaging with the community where he can.
A little about me: I have been working in the GPU industry for approx 16 years, with most of that time at ATI Technologies doing many different jobs, from working in a lab testing for Hardware Qualification on ATI GPUS, to Product Marketing for ATI’s motherboard chipsets, to my current role as Public Relations Manager for AMD supporting reviews of our ATI GPUs and ATI Catalyst drivers.
The ATI Catalyst driver blogs have been gaining momentum, and interest is growing each and every month. The ATI Catalyst team is dedicated to keeping users informed about any and all updates on our drivers.
Between Windows 7, DirectX 11, and the new ATI Radeon GPUs, we are taking your visual experience to the next level with DirectX 11 support and new features like ATI Eyefinity technology. I just purchased a second ati sapphire 4870 card to install in a dell xps qx6850 problem is in the device manager notice under display adapters 2 4870 cards displayed with no errors but when I go over to catalys and check hardware information it states there is a primary card but the second is disabled being that both cards are set up with crossfire should I worry that the second card is being displayed in catalyst under system information/ graphics hardware as disabled adapter?
Specs:
windows 7 64bit
extreme quad core 3.0
8gb ram
500 hd
hello
I have an HD4870 in my 2 month old Dell…when I ran the Windows 7 upgrade I just get a black screen after the splash screen. I have tried to add the 9.11 drivers by booting off the CD and choosing “load driver” but it tells me they’re not valid? Safe mode tells me to complete the install before I can use it and low res mode just gives the black screen again. A format and reinstall gave the same result…any ideas, please?
(i’m using a Sony LCD TV as the monitor via HDMI)
Fixed it by buying a VGA cable and using that so I could actually see Windows 7…finished the install and used the 9.11 drivers and – so far – it’s all working (with the HDMI again).
Yay.
I installed the HD 4870pe51GDI into my Mach speed P4mst-890-motherboard but it did not get recognized at all. I disabled the onboard video, uninstalled also and even did some cmos adjusting but nothing. I downloaded the latest catalyst, drivers and the software for dosn’t even come up its just a folder . Cant get it to install. Im connecting to the DVI on my Samsung SyncMaster 940mw but nothing. The fan runs on the card but my monitor gets nothing and it does not come up as a hardware at all. Please help i thought this would be relatively easy and i have been at it again and again.
Hi, If I read this stuff before i bought HD4650 1gb. I could have saved the cash.
Win XP Pro, Msi motherboard, 2.9ghz cpu,500W ps, 1gb ram. I have tried everything to get this to work but nothing works. system freezes by the time the welcome screen gets here. anyone want to trade me for a nvidia.
Help. I got a ati readon x1950xtx and trying to upgrade the driver. But as i try to install i i just get “unable to load ATICIM.dll” what can i do?
I have exactly the same problem. Tried googling for answers but nothing. Also tried everything between reinstalling my games and my ati 5750 drivers

Your comments about The Witcher are wrong. I’ve been running this game faultlessly with Nvidia 9600GT card. When my son’s Radeon X1950Pro gave up the ghost, I gave him my 9600 and was going to buy a 5770 to replace it. But after research I have decided to wait for the new Nvidia cards. There’s no point in having a great product if it’s going to be constantly let down by buggy drivers. Incidentally, my son’s X1950 Pro never worked properly, yet the old Nvidia 6600 I’m now using can very jerkily play The Witcher. I just think AMD should have waited instead of trying to steal a march on Nvidia. There seem to be a lot of dissatisfied people out there and I don’t intend to become one of them, thank you very much.
Hi there have just installed the 10-2 win7 ccc and drivers, both my 5870 cards are enabled in crossfire, but they wont disable and in the overdrive otion my second card wont show up it information and cant change fan speed or anything
