ATI Catalyst™ 10.1 Driver – What’s New?

It’s that time again for the ATI Catalyst™ driver update!  We have been getting great comments and feedback from the community because of this blog site.  Please continue to send us your feedback as we do review them all*.

*IF you are having technical issues with the ATI Catalyst driver, or your graphics card please report your issues here.

Things are going to start to get very exciting as far as ATI Catalyst drivers are concerned in 2010.

AMD continues to be one of the few companies in the high tech industry to commit to 12 driver updates a year (and all updates are Microsoft WHQL certified).  Check our record – for quite some time now each and every month has seen a new ATI Catalyst driver released.  Typically these either have new bug fixes, performance improvements, or new features (or a combination of all three).

Over the next few months AMD is planning to roll out some major new features and functionality into the ATI Catalyst drivers.  I can’t give you all the specifics now, but will keep you posted on any new features and functions as they become available.

Until then, here are the highlights of what is new in ATI Catalyst 10.1 this month:

Highlights of the Linux ATI Catalyst 10.1 release include:

New Features

Support for new Linux operating systems:

This release of ATI Catalyst driver for Linux introduces support for the following new operating systems:

Does the driver fix the grey screen/random vertical bar crash issue that has been plaguing numerous customers using 64bit Windows with most 4xxx and most 5xxx video cards?

Here is the issue and the hundreds of customers with the issue: http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=260&threadid=124747

    Hi!
    I have one Question.
What is about the driver integration of the mobility radeon series products?
I read on some sites, that they are included in the 10.1 and upcuming drivers…?!

    Dear Sir,

Several people have been waiting, mostly in vain, for a fix for the so called “striped screen/vertical lines” issue. According to the Release Notes this problem is still an “open issue”. Please, could you at least let us know what causes this issue? We have seen several “fixes” (none of which solved the issue) and theories about the cause of the problem but the entire situation is still pretty hazy. We would be greatly obliged if you could tell us a little bit more than “still open issue”.

All your answers are greatly appreciated!

    Regards,

    Fl00D

Would be nice to see support for Xorg server 1.7 for the next release, because it was released back in october 2009. :)

The new Catalyst 10.1 doesn’t have the “10.1″ version string in CCC!

The new Catalyst 10.1 still crashes with VPU Recovery when the video is played with DXVA on 5970 card!

The new Catalyst 10.1 has broken PowerPlay! The second GPU of 5970 stays always on!

  8. Forced AF in Dragon Age has been broken since Cat 9.11. Plenty of people have reported this issue and nothing seems to be working with your support since its still broken 3 driver releases later. Please fix this

Have been having non stop issues with my Radeon 5850 since purchase, everything from hard freezes to Grey screen / Stripes, it got so annoying where i had to put back in my GTX260 for stability.

I dont want the card to sit on a shelf and collect dust, anything you guys can do to fix the problem will be extremely appreciated.
