A Look Under the Hood

Today, HP has launched the new HP ProLiant MicroServer aimed at helping small businesses take the leap into server-based IT infrastructure and our AMD Embedded Solutions team is quite proud of the technology under the hood.  This new compact, power-sipping, business-class server is based on the ASB2 platform that launched in April and features an AMD Athlon™ Neo II processor and the AMD 785E chipset.

HP has delivered an ideal example of the innovation that can be built on our commercial-class embedded platforms – a “just-right” combination of processor performance and power efficiency.  And it’s just as full-featured as all of AMD’s other enterprise options.  Not only can a small shop move from networked PCs to a safe, efficient server-based setup, they can do this affordably and with minimal management.  The folks running the business can concentrate on sales and rest easy knowing a storage-like server solution is on site protecting critical data.

Admittedly, embedded is a broad term, but AMD is committed to servicing the full spectrum, from industrial controls to mission-critical storage, with long-term support and longevity.  Our customers are deploying routers, switches, and other networking infrastructure, thin clients and increasingly innovative solutions that fit very unique market needs like HP’s new MicroServer.  I can’t wait to see how creative our embedded customers can get with “Bobcat” and “Bulldozer”!
