[12 Days of 12 Core] Day 1: Year in Review and How to Participate
Over the next 12 days, as AMD gets in the holiday spirit, we will be celebrating our 12 cores of computing prowess right here on the @Work blog. But, this isn’t all about us. We want you to be involved as well. So here’s the catch:
- Each blog post will feature one clue – a bold, underlined word. It will never be more than just one word per post, so keep an eye out for that clue (hint: we just gave away the first one).
- There will be 12 blog posts over the next 12 days (this is day 1), which will mean 12 total clues that spell out a longer phrase. Once the 12th and final blog is posted, the full phrase will be revealed, and readers will be asked to submit that phrase via an entry form embedded in the last post. Act quickly, though, as there will be only 48 hours after the 12th blog post to enter your submission!
- Based on a random drawing of all the correct entries, a winner will be determined for a Toshiba Satellite A505D-S6987 laptop.
- Over the course of the 12 days, we’ll be offering a glimpse into the many sides of our 12-core server platforms, while also informing you of online deals and resources to help your holiday server purchases.
Now that we all know how to participate, let’s spend the day 1 recapping the year that was 2010. Quite simply, it was a huge year for AMD’s server division, beginning with the way in which we changed our approach to the 2P and 4P markets:
Shortly thereafter, we introduced the AMD OpteronTM 6000 Series platform, the world’s first 12-core server platform which also helped “repeal the 4P tax”:
Despite our celebration of the impressive capabilities of AMD’s 12-core server processors, let us not forget the incredible energy efficiency offered by the AMD OpteronTM 4000 Series:
There’s a lot to be proud of from 2010, and over the next 11 days we’ll touch on a variety of other unique areas of our server platforms, as well as look into our crystal ball to see what 2011 holds. Stays tuned here (and watch out for clues)!
